Saudi Arabia's Electrical Industries Company wins 140 million Riyal order to supply the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water with 1500 distribution transformers.

Dammam-based Electrical Industries, one of the largest manufacturers and providers of electrical equipment in the Gulf region, has signed a contract worth 140 million Riyals to supply the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity and Water with oil-type distribution transformers. The transformers, which will be used in Kuwait’s electricity grid, will be manufactured and supplied by Electrical Industries subsidiary Saudi Transformers Company and will be rated at 1250 kilovolts-ampere (kVA).


According to Engineer Ahmed Bin Nasser Al-Suwaidan, the company’s managing director and vice chairman of the board, this order is one of a series of agreements that Electrical Industries has finalized with the region’s utilitiesfor products manufactured by its subsidiary Saudi Transformers Company.

“We’ve already begun manufacturing this order for transformers on behalf of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water at our Dammam First Industrial City-based factory. We will begin supplying the first transformers by February 2012 and we expect to complete the order by the end of 2012,” added Al-Suwaidan.

The company recently supplied a contract worth 190 million Saudi Riyals for over 1,750 distribution transformers and substations to Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
